Meet Dr. Salem

Omar Salem, DMD, MS

I have been practicing orthodontics since 1999, but have a lifetime of learning in my profession. My father is a retired orthodontist, and I loved joining him in his office to help organize patient study models and prepare supplies. I still meet people who were patients of his, and were influenced by his gentle nature and beautiful results. I strive every day to be the best orthodontist I can be for my patients, and to provide a warm and welcoming environment where they feel comfortable.

Education and Continuing Education

Dr Salem attended Tufts University for my DMD and obtained my Orthodontic specialty from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY at Buffalo) in 1999. Afterwards, he  continued his studies at University of Buffalo, graduating with my Master of Science Degree in 2000.

Dr. Salem has extensive experience teaching dentistry as well. He served on the faculty body at the department of orthodontics at Buffalo University until 2002, then moved to Tufts University School of Dental medicine where he served as director of the Pre-doctoral Orthodontic Program until 2005. In addition to private practice and teaching, Dr Salem has published numerous papers in dental and medical journals dealing with the advancement of orthodontic research, science and technique.

Although Dr Salem formal education is complete,he is always learning something new in the orthodontic field. His continuing education courses and seminars keep him up to date with the latest updates and technology, allowing Dr Salem to offer his patients the most advanced and predictable techniques. Dr Salem highest goal is to provide my patients with the most efficient and effective orthodontic treatments that result in healthy smiles that last a lifetime. "My continuing education ensures that my patients will always receive the best care possible" Dr Salem says.

In the Practice

As an orthodontist, I am both a doctor and a part of the community. I want my patients to attain beautiful, healthy smiles while having a positive treatment experience. When a patient is finished with treatment and they see their smile for the first time, it always makes my day. Hearing them say thank you and seeing the expression on their face is truly rewarding.

I enjoy what I do because I get to have a positive impact on people of all ages. I love working with kids because they are so much fun, and always tell me what's on their mind. Adult patients always teach me something new, and I love exceeding their expectations in treatment.

Local dentists often tell me how happy they are for recommending me to their patients, and I treat many children of dentists in the area. I appreciate the trust they put in me, and always strive for perfection in every treatment.

Family and Community

I was born and raised in Damascus, Syria, and moved to the USA in 1996. I have been living in Canton since 2001, and love it! My wife, Zeina and I have three children: two boys and one baby girl. The boys go to Canton public schools. After work, I enjoy hiking, soccer, landscaping, traveling with my family, watching the RedSox and the Patriots, and spending time with my family.

My office is a regular proud sponsor of many musical and sport events in local schools, towns and museums. We also provide free orthodontic treatment for two families a year who are unable to afford orthodontics. The program is set up through the school nurse's office and local dentists who offer free screening to needy children. I also volunteer for national organizations such as the American Red Cross, Life for Relie and Amnesty international.
